What you will experience

Set up camp in the forest, enjoy dinner by the fire and spend the night in a bivouac, in a soothing setting, far from everything, for a real break from it all.
Drive through the forests of the Ardennes and stop off at the Basilica of Saint-Hubert, a historic site that is emblematic of the region, before heading back to Libramont.
The adventure ends with a drive along small country roads with breathtaking views over the valleys, before arriving in Libramont satisfied with the scenery and the moments shared.
Embark on a cycling adventure in the heart of the forest, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. On forest paths, you'll experience total immersion, lulled by the sounds of nature, with perhaps even a deer or fox in sight.

We begin our adventure after a convivial lunch to recharge our batteries. Once in the saddle, we quickly leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind and immerse ourselves in the vast forest, the region's green lung. The sounds of traffic give way to birdsong, and with a bit of luck we may catch a glimpse of some of the local wildlife, such as deer, foxes and squirrels.


The route takes us along varied mountain bike tracks and winding forest paths, offering both fun and total immersion in an exceptional natural setting. The gradual gradient gently prepares us for the efforts ahead, while allowing us to enjoy the scenery.


In the late afternoon, we reach our bivouac, nestling in the heart of the forest. After setting up camp and sharing a warm and convivial dinner, we relax under a starry sky, lulled by the soothing sounds of the surrounding nature.

After a gentle wake-up call and breakfast at the bivouac, we set off again for an even more intense day. The morning trails pass through dense woodland, where the play of light between the trees adds a touch of magic to our progress. Technical challenges and varied landscapes punctuate this first part of the day.


At the end of the morning, we caught sight of the majestic Basilica of Saint-Hubert in the distance, an impressive historic monument in the heart of the region. We took a well-deserved break to explore this iconic site, known for its remarkable architecture and its connection with the patron saint of hunters.


After a refreshing lunch near the basilica, we set off on our bikes for the last few kilometres to Libramont. This last section offers a mix of paths and small country roads, with uninterrupted views over the surrounding valleys. We reached Libramont in the late afternoon, satisfied with our efforts and the memories we had made along the way.

Included

The guide: Throughout your stay, you'll be accompanied by Kenneth, a guide with a passion for cycling who'll have lots of stories to tell you!
Catering: All meals are included in the price of the expedition from Saturday lunchtime to Sunday lunchtime.
The bivouac: You will have the opportunity to experience the magic of sleeping 1 night in a bivouac. You'll sleep in a private bivouac we've reserved in the Hautes Fagnes, where we'll spend Saturday evening.
Repair equipment is included and managed by our tour guide: bike pumps, straps to hang your bivouac gear and puncture repair equipment.

What level should you expect

Level 2
  • You can ride up to 45 km a day with a positive difference in altitude.
  • You're comfortable with completely self-sufficient cross-country skiing (equipment, food, water... you name it).
  • You're not afraid of sleeping under the stars, even in demanding conditions.
  • You want to take on a physical challenge, connect with nature and share this unique experience with a small, dynamic group.

What type of bike should I take?

Whether it's a mountain bike, a mountain bike, a gravel bike or an electric bike, you're free to take the bike that suits you best! All we ask is that you bring a bike that's in good condition, ready to go and with a minimum of 8 gears. Not sure about the bike? Contact us!

Can children take part?

Yes, of course. Children under 18 are welcome as long as they are accompanied by an adult. When you book, a child price will be displayed and you will then be able to proceed with your booking at a discount.

Is it possible to hire a bike on site?

Is it possible to hire a bike on site? Yes, we offer a bike hire service to make your trip easier. When you make your booking on our website, you will be able to hire a bike directly. Each hire includes: - A bike perfectly suited to the expedition. - A helmet for your safety. - Suitable panniers to carry your belongings with complete peace of mind. We've thought of everything so that you're ready to go as soon as you arrive!

What should I pack in my bag for this expedition?

As soon as your registration has been confirmed, you will receive a complete list of the equipment you need to take with you on this expedition. Here are some of the items that will be on the list: Tent and sleeping bag adapted to the weather conditions. Bike bags (if applicable) to carry your belongings. Bike in good condition and well equipped. Bike helmet for your safety. Water bottles to stay hydrated. Waterproof jacket, in case of rain or wind. Sports shorts for greater freedom of movement. Sports shoes adapted to walking and cycling comfortably. Warm clothing for the night, especially if temperatures drop.

Are there showers at the bivouac site?

No, you'll be sleeping on a bivouac site with no surrounding infrastructure: welcome to the great outdoors!

⛈ What happens if the metreo is wrong?

If the weather is bad but does not represent a danger to participants during the expedition, the activity will continue. If the weather becomes dangerous, the activity will be cancelled and replaced by an alternative offered by our professional guides.

What is included in the price of a DiscoveRent shipment?

  • 30% for our guides: We believe that our experienced guides play a crucial role in the success of each activity. That's why we make sure we allocate a significant proportion to pay for their expertise and supervision.
  • 35% for accommodation and food: We consider comfortable accommodation and quality food to be essential elements of an enriching experience.
  • 10% for equipment and transport: The safety and comfort of our participants is paramount. With this part of the total amount, we can guarantee that the equipment required is in excellent condition and adequate for each activity. Transport costs also come into play when they are essential during an expedition.
  • 25% for expedition participation and running costs: These costs cover the logistical, administrative and organisational aspects of the expedition, as well as the overall management of the experience, from start to finish.
