Ciao, I'm Giuseppe! Italian by birth, but now living in Chamonix. I grew up near Lake Garda, between the mountains and swimming, always on the move.

When I was a teenager, I caught the freeride bug: winter snowboarding in the Dolomites, summer downhill mountain biking. In short, cycling isn't just a means of transport for me, it's a way of life. Today, I'm a bike guide, and frankly, it was the obvious thing to do!

Frequently asked questions

How comfortable are the rooms we'll be sleeping in?

As this is an itinerant cycling holiday, you will sleep in a different accommodation every night: all the accommodation chosen is comfortable, and you will sleep in a shared room in a single bed. On site, you'll have access to toilets and showers.

How comfortable are the rifugio rooms?

The rooms in rifugio are simple and rustic, often in dormitories with bunk beds. They offer basic but friendly comfort, ideal for hikers and pilgrims looking for a break in the heart of nature. Some rifugi offer additional facilities such as Canadian baths, but the most important thing is the warm welcome and authenticity of the setting.

Can I bring or hire an e-bike for this adventure?

Yes, you can bring your own e-bike or hire one on site, subject to availability. We recommend that you check the hire options in advance and make sure your e-bike is suitable for the trails you'll be taking on your adventure.

Can I arrive a day earlier or leave later?

Yes, no problem! When you book, we offer the option of arriving the day before and spending the night in our partner hotel in Stia. It's a great way to start your expedition with peace of mind and enjoy a quiet evening before departure.

What happens in the event of a breakdown or mechanical problem?

Don't worry! Giuseppe, your guide, is equipped to deal with routine repairs (punctures, adjustments, minor breakages). In the event of a more serious breakdown requiring a specific intervention, we'll call in a local repair service for a quick fix.

Are meals adapted to special diets (vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.)?

Yes, of course! We take special dietary requirements into account. A few days before departure, a discussion will be launched in the expedition's WhatsApp group to ensure that everyone can have meals adapted to their needs.

What is the minimum age to take part?

For open groups, participants must be over 18 years of age. If you wish to privatise the expedition for a group of friends or your family, we accept teenagers aged 15 and over, provided they have a good level of practice and are accompanied by an adult.

I'm new to gravel, can I still take part?

Yes, this expedition is accessible to beginners, as long as you have some experience of riding on unpaved roads. If you're comfortable on a bike and ready to pedal for several hours a day over a variety of terrain (gravel, forest tracks, secondary roads), then you're more than welcome to take part. The pace is adapted to the group, with regular breaks and a focus on enjoyment and discovery rather than performance.

Do I need to bring my own bike or can I hire one on site?

Both options are possible! If you already have your own gravel bike and it's suitable for the course, you can of course use it. If you don't, you can hire one directly when you make your booking. You can hire a gravel bike or an electric bike with panniers, ideal for travelling light and enjoying the route to the full.

What equipment should I take with me?

You'll need a gravel bike (or one you can hire on site), a helmet (compulsory), clothing suited to the weather conditions and a basic repair kit, plus water, energy snacks and a change of clothes for the evenings. A detailed list of recommended and compulsory equipment will be sent to you after you have registered, so that you can prepare your equipment with peace of mind.

What does the price of a Wildhartt adventure include?

At Wildhartt, we attach particular importance to price transparency for our shipments. Our approach is based on a clear breakdown of costs, aimed at providing a better understanding of the elements included in the total amount. Here's how we allocate the percentages:

  • 30% for our guides: We believe that our experienced guides play a crucial role in the success of each activity. That's why we make sure we allocate a significant proportion to pay for their expertise and supervision.
  • 35% for accommodation and food: We consider comfortable accommodation and quality food to be essential elements of an enriching experience.
  • 10% for equipment and transport: The safety and comfort of our participants is paramount. With this part of the total amount, we can guarantee that the equipment required is in excellent condition and adequate for each activity. Transport costs also come into play when they are essential during an expedition.
  • 25% for expedition participation and running costs: These costs cover the logistical, administrative and organisational aspects of the expedition, as well as the overall management of the experience, from start to finish.

Our aim is to provide you with a trustworthy, high-quality experience, while being transparent about how the final cost of your shipment is shared. If you have any further questions about our prices, please contact us here.

Can I privatise this expedition for my group?

Yes, all our expeditions can be privatised for a group already formed, on the dates of your choice.

To make your request, go to the expedition that interests you and click on "Privatise the expedition". We'll take care of the rest!

What happens if the weather is bad?

At Wildhartt, nature is our playground, whatever the conditions.
Our expeditions are designed to be experienced to the full, come sun, rain, snow or even wind. Our guides are on hand to adapt the itinerary, activities and accommodation to the prevailing conditions, to ensure the best possible experience.

⚠️ Safety exception: If conditions become truly dangerous (storm, avalanche, flood, etc.), Wildhartt may exceptionally cancel a departure.

📅 This decision will only be taken as a last resort, less than a week before departure.

If we have to cancel an expedition for safety reasons, you have two options:
  • Postpone your adventure free of charge to another departure.
  • Receive a full refund of the sums already paid.
