Itinerary

DAY 1 / 3
Night
Gîte
Climbing
6h

We'll meet at 9am at the Château Vieux car park, where we'll meet Thibaut, our guide for the trip. After introductions, we'll walk towards the climbing spot. Thibaut will provide a presentation of the equipment and safety instructions for rock climbing.

After familiarising ourselves with the equipment and the rock, we'll also learn how to abseil independently.

At the end of the day, we'll head to our gîte where we'll enjoy a delicious meal while admiring the view of Mont Aiguille.

DAY 2 / 3
Night
Gîte
Climbing
6h

After breakfast, we take the car to the Gorges d'Agnielles, where Thibaut will introduce us to Via Ferrata for the day.

The route offers a 35-metre high crossing, with progress along a ledge, more aerial passages and even through a cave. It ends with a magnificent abseil, adding a final touch to our experience.

After the via ferrata, we'll have the opportunity to continue our learning by climbing some nearby cliffs.

Back at our gîte at the end of the day, we share a meal before going to bed early to be in top shape for the day ahead.

DAY 3 / 3
Climbing
8h

We wake up earlier than on previous days. Our aim today is to climb Mont Aiguille, the iconic peak we've been looking at for the last three days!

We'll start the day with an approach walk before reaching the 1,780-metre starting point for the ascent.

Then, equipped and roped up, we begin the ascent, aiming for the highest point at 2087 metres.

Once we reach the summit plateau, we can take full advantage of the panoramic view. We can contemplate the peaks of the Écrins massif, the Chartreuse and even Mont-Blanc.

It's with stars in our eyes that we begin the abseiling descent. Back at the foot of Mont Aiguille, it's time to say goodbye, taking with us a host of memories.

Passionate about the mountains, I discovered climbing in the Bouches-du-Rhône before diving into ski touring in the Ecrins. Since then, I've explored various mountain ranges, from Mont Blanc to Dévoluy, in search of pleasure and sharing. For me, the mountains are all about human adventure and working together on projects.

Frequently asked questions

Why is Mont Aiguille so emblematic?

Its first ascent, on 26 June 1492, is considered to mark the birth of mountaineering. Easily recognised by its "tooth" shape, Mont Aiguille quickly became a must-see mountain.

What is a Via Ferrata?

A via ferrata is a mountain sports route equipped with cables, ladders, ramps and other devices to facilitate the progress of climbers. This route allows participants to cross vertical or inclined rocky passages in complete safety.

I don't have any climbing experience, can I still take part?

We ask you to be aware of your level. This is not a technically complicated expedition, but you need to be an experienced hiker to ensure you don't succumb to vertigo. You don't need to have any previous climbing experience, but you do need to be physically and mentally fit to be able to climb with confidence.

How comfortable are the rooms in the gîte?

The gîte has the typical charm of mountain accommodation, nestling at the foot of Mont Aiguille. It comprises a dormitory room with a single bed for each guest.

What apprenticeships are being promoted?

On this trip, you'll learn how to climb a cliff while acquiring essential safety skills. You'll learn to climb, belay and abseil in complete safety. You will have the opportunity to familiarise yourself with the void and the rock through different experiences: on climbing walls, on a via ferrata and during an alpine ascent.

⛈ What happens if the metreo is wrong?

If the weather is bad but does not represent a danger to participants during the expedition, the activity will continue. If the weather becomes dangerous, the activity will be cancelled and replaced by an alternative offered by our professional guides.

What is included in the price of a DiscoveRent shipment?

At Wildhartt, we attach particular importance to price transparency for our shipments. Our approach is based on a clear breakdown of costs, aimed at providing a better understanding of the elements included in the total amount. Here's how we allocate the percentages:

  • 30% for our guides: We believe that our experienced guides play a crucial role in the success of each activity. That's why we make sure we allocate a significant proportion to pay for their expertise and supervision.
  • 35% for accommodation and food: We consider comfortable accommodation and quality food to be essential elements of an enriching experience.
  • 10% for equipment and transport: The safety and comfort of our participants is paramount. With this part of the total amount, we can guarantee that the equipment required is in excellent condition and adequate for each activity. Transport costs also come into play when they are essential during an expedition.
  • 25% for expedition participation and running costs: These costs cover the logistical, administrative and organisational aspects of the expedition, as well as the overall management of the experience, from start to finish.

Our aim is to provide you with a trustworthy, high-quality experience, while being transparent about how the final cost of your shipment is shared. If you have any further questions about our prices, please contact us here.
