An apprenticeship that will lead you to autonomy in the mountains, alongside a small group of mountain enthusiasts like yourself.

Itinerary

DAY 1 / 5
Night
Gîte
Activity time
5h

Rendezvous at 9am in Chamonix to meet Olivier, our mountain guide who will be leading us for the next few days.

The first day will be devoted to learning how to progress in mountainous terrain. We'll be learning about roping up, belaying, putting on protection, belaying, etc.

To put these lessons into practice, we'll be venturing out on the via cordata at Les Mottets. It's a fun route that combines climbing and hiking, and finishes in style at the Mottets refreshment bar.

DAY 2 / 5
Night
Gîte
Activity time
6h

After a good night's sleep and breakfast at our gîte, we'll be able to put into practice what we learnt the day before. On the programme is our first ridge climb in the Aiguilles rouges massif.

Whether you take the Index de la Glière, one of Chamonix's classic ridges, or the Aiguilles Crochues ridge, you won't be able to miss the magnificent panorama of the Mont Blanc massif.

Return to the gîte in the late afternoon.

DAY 3 / 5
Night
Gîte
Activity time
6h

Today we're taking a change of scenery and hitting the road to Champex-Lac in Switzerland.

Once we arrive in Champex-Lac, we'll walk to the Cabane d'Orny: our refuge for the next two nights, an idyllic spot overlooking two lakes and facing the Orny glacier.

We'll then climb the aiguille de la cabane via the "La Balade" route, not far from the hut.

We'll finish the day at the hut, where we'll enjoy a good mountain meal in a warm, typical hut atmosphere.

DAY 4 / 5
Night
Refuge
Activity time
5h

After our first night in the Orny hut, we're off to tackle the Aiguille d'Arpette. It's with a mixture of wonder and concentration that we'll walk along its ridges. We'll be able to enjoy the view and the surrounding glaciers, in particular the Trient glacier.

After these aerial escapades, we return to the Cabane d'Orny for the end of the day. There's something for everyone, with swimming for the bravest, a game of cards or a walk in the surrounding area.

DAY 5 / 5
Activity time
6h

On this final day, we'll have the opportunity to put into practice everything we've learnt during our stay, all in breathtaking surroundings. We'll be venturing up the Aiguille du Tour, where we'll be treated to breathtaking panoramic views of Mont Blanc.

We'll cross the Swiss/French border via the Col Supérieur du Tour, then head back down to Chamonix.

End of the expedition at around 5 p.m., back in Chamonix.

Guide Olivier - Olivier

Olivier

Coming from the flat country of Belgium and being a mountain guide sounds like a bit of an oxymoron, but here I am, Olivier , 33 years old. Very enthusiastic about the idea of getting off the beaten track, it's with boundless enthusiasm that I'll be guiding you through the magical world of the high mountains, far from the hustle and bustle of the valleys. It's with the same enthusiasm that I'll be sharing the conviviality of the post-race moments over a good beer... Belgian!

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to have done mountaineering before?

We ask that you have previous mountaineering experience. You don't need to have any previous mountaineering experience, but you do need to be in good health and be in good physical condition. If you do an endurance sport at least 1x a week and you're not afraid of physical activity for 6 hours a day, then you're at the right level for this expedition! Then you've got what it takes for this expedition! Not sure about your level? Contact us!

What equipment do I need?

We provide all the mountaineering equipment. However, if you have your own equipment, don't hesitate to take it with you!

How comfortable are the refuges?

High mountain refuges offer a certain level of comfort: you'll sleep in beds with blankets provided (you'll just need to bring a meat bag for hygiene reasons), and there will be heating, showers and electrical sockets on site.

Will there be a telephone network?

There is little network coverage in the high mountains. Network coverage depends on your telephone subscription. At times during your journey, you'll get a signal, but most of the time you'll be completely disconnected. Welcome to the great outdoors!

⛈ What happens if the metreo is wrong?

If the weather is bad but does not represent a danger to participants during the expedition, the activity will continue. If the weather becomes dangerous, the activity will be cancelled and replaced by an alternative offered by our professional guides.

What is included in the price of a DiscoveRent shipment?

At Wildhartt, we attach particular importance to price transparency for our shipments. Our approach is based on a clear breakdown of costs, aimed at providing a better understanding of the elements included in the total amount. Here's how we allocate the percentages:

  • 30% for our guides: We believe that our experienced guides play a crucial role in the success of each activity. That's why we make sure we allocate a significant proportion to pay for their expertise and supervision.
  • 35% for accommodation and food: We consider comfortable accommodation and quality food to be essential elements of an enriching experience.
  • 10% for equipment and transport: The safety and comfort of our participants is paramount. With this part of the total amount, we can guarantee that the equipment required is in excellent condition and adequate for each activity. Transport costs also come into play when they are essential during an expedition.
  • 25% for expedition participation and running costs: These costs cover the logistical, administrative and organisational aspects of the expedition, as well as the overall management of the experience, from start to finish.

Our aim is to provide you with a trustworthy, high-quality experience, while being transparent about how the final cost of your shipment is shared. If you have any further questions about our prices, please contact us here.
