March to November
3 days| 2 nights
Level 3
Eco-score 4/5

What you will experience

Thanks to a programme combining stride analysis, ascent and descent techniques, effort management and strengthening, this course will give you practical tools to optimise your performance and improve your fluidity on all types of terrain.
After each intense day, make the most of the comfort of the gîte, with meals adapted to the needs of traileurs and a wellness area with sauna to relax muscles and optimise recovery.
Enjoy the benefits of a small group, supervised by a guide specialising in the discipline, who will support your progress with personalised advice and technical adjustments so that you leave with a better understanding of your body and your running.
Between panoramic ridges, deep forests, technical trails and steep climbs, the Jura massif offers a varied and natural terrain, perfect for working on effort management, support and recovery on typical mountain trail profiles.

Itinerary

DAY 1 / 3
D-
1000m
D+
1000m
Distance
22km

We meet at 10am at the gîte in Giron, our base camp for this course. After settling in and an introduction to the course, we set off straight away on our first adaptation outing. The route quickly plunges us into a mineral environment, between the Roches d'Orvaz and the Roche Fauconnière, with some technical sections that will be used to analyse our stride. The guide observes each person to suggest individual adjustments to support and posture, essential for conserving energy over long distances.

We then descend into the Semine valley, ideal terrain for working on downhill technique, looking at body positioning, speed management and adapting to uneven ground. After this initial warm-up, it's time to tackle the first climbs, where we'll see how to adapt our pace and optimise our effort according to the percentage of the gradient.

We return to the gîte at the end of the afternoon for a convivial evening and a debriefing on the day's observations.

DAY 2 / 3
D-
1300m
D+
1300m
Distance
25km

We start the day with a technical outing on the crests of the Haut-Jura, between the Gralet and the Reculet (1,718 m), the emblematic summit of the Haute Chaîne du Jura. The gradual ascent gives us the opportunity to work on effort management on the way up, alternating between running and active walking, depending on the terrain. We also learn about breathing techniques and muscle relaxation, essential for conserving energy on a long trail.

Return to the gîte at the end of the day, with a session of stretching and discussions on mental preparation and motivation for trail running, essential for performance in the race.

DAY 3 / 3
D+
800m
Distance
20km

For this final day, we're changing the setting with an immersion in the Hautes-Combes, an area marked by the history of the Jura and more open landscapes. We'll be tackling the Crêts du Nerbier, Crêt au Merle and Crêt de Chalam, where managing our pace and recovery will be at the heart of this final outing.

After passing through the Borne au Lion, an iconic site in the Jura, we finish the course with a gradual descent where we apply everything we've learnt in terms of effort management, posture and stride.

We return to the gîte in the early afternoon for a final debriefing.

Frequently asked questions

What learning will be highlighted?

During this course, we will have several technical workshops spread over the 3 days: ascent and descent techniques, stride analysis, effort management and listening to your body, and finally workshops on strengthening and proprioception.

Do I need to bring any special equipment?

For this trip, we ask you to bring a light bagpack (5 to 20 litres), trail shoes (non-new) and poles (optional, depending on your habits). We will provide you with a full list of the clothing you need once you have registered for your expedition via a personalised roadbook.

Will I have to carry a bagpack on the various outings?

During the daily outings, each participant will carry a bag with a supply of water and food, as well as a picnic lunch. As we'll be sleeping in the same gîte every night, we'll be able to leave the bulk of our belongings there and carry only what's really necessary.

How comfortable are shared rooms?

The shared rooms are very comfortable: they can accommodate up to 6 people and are equipped with a bathroom and separate toilet. Bed linen and towels are provided for a restful night's sleep after a day out.

Can I privatise this expedition for my group?

Yes, all our expeditions can be privatised for a group already formed, on the dates of your choice.

To make your request, go to the expedition that interests you and click on "Privatise the expedition". We'll take care of the rest!

Are instalment payment options available?

Yes, absolutely! At checkout, you can choose Alma to pay for your booking in 2, 3 or 4 instalments. Just select Alma during checkout and follow the instructions. It’s simple, fast, and secure.
