What you will experience

Spend the night in comfortable gîtes typical of the region, and enjoy the famous Jura fondue after a day's hiking.
Discover the Jura on a 3-day tour of forests, mountain pastures, high plateaux and panoramic peaks.
Immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the Jura with a local guide who will take you to places where others won't go.
Discover places steeped in history, such as the Forêt du Massacre, witness to a medieval battle between the Savoyards and Italians, and the Combe à la Chèvre, an ancient transhumance route used by livestock farmers for centuries.

We meet at 9am in the village of Prémanon to meet the participants and brief the guide.

We then set off on a walk through the Forêt du Massacre, a densely wooded area that has been the scene of many historic events. We continue towards the Combe à la Chèvre, the start of the Hautes-Combes high plateaux, to reach our gîte near Lajoux.

Arriving at the gîte in the late afternoon, we take time to settle in before enjoying a fine meal of regional specialities.

After breakfast at the gîte, we set off again for the next stage at La Pesse.

The trail takes us through rolling hills and meadows, offering varied views of the Jura mountain range. We pass through wooded areas and open fields, discovering the diversity of the Jura landscape.

We reach our accommodation at the end of the day, where we spend the night in comfortable surroundings, sharing our experiences of the day.

On this last day, we set off to climb the Crêt de Chalam in the hope of seeing Mont Blanc and its panoramic views.

We'll take advantage of the view to eat our picnic lunch before heading back down to the village of La Pesse, where the shuttle bus will be waiting for us.

The programme concludes at around 4pm, marking the end of our adventure in the Jura.

Supervision : During these 3 days, you will be accompanied by Armand, a passionate mountain leader and native of the region.
Accommodation: You will sleep for 2 nights in shared rooms [single beds] in comfortable gîtes.
Catering: All meals from the first evening to the picnic on the last day are included. You'll have the chance to sample the tasty cuisine of the gîtes and the specialities of the region.
The last day's taxi transfer from La Pesse to the departure point in Prémanon.

What level should you expect

  • You are capable of walking 16km a day with an average difference in altitude of 450m+.
  • Carrying your rucksack (max 7kg) on the hikes is not a problem for you (no porterage provided)

You can arrive by car and leave it in a free car park at our meeting point.

If you don't have a car, you should know that we encourage car-pooling between participants by creating a WhatsApp group 7 days before departure: an opportunity to get to know each other before you even start your expedition!

Frequently asked questions

Are dogs allowed on this expedition?

Despite our immense love of dogs at Wildhartt, they are not welcome in the area where we are leading this expedition.

Are you organising a rucksack service?

No, you will be self-sufficient throughout the expedition. However, your rucksack should weigh between 5 and 7 kg maximum, as you will be sleeping in comfortable gîtes where blankets, pillows and sheets will be provided.

Can children take part in this expedition?

Children accompanied by an adult are welcome.

What equipment should we take with us?

Once your registration has been confirmed, we'll send you a full list of the equipment you'll need. Bear in mind that you'll be sleeping in comfortable stopover gîtes every night, so all you'll need is a rucksack with the bare essentials [clothes, sun cream, sunglasses, maps, etc].

What if I can't get to the meeting point by 9am?

It is possible to take out an option to arrive the day before departure and spend the night at the gîte. You can select this option at the next stage of the booking process.

Can I privatise this expedition for my group?

Yes, all our expeditions can be privatised for a group already formed, on the dates of your choice.

To make your request, go to the expedition that interests you and click on "Privatise the expedition". We'll take care of the rest!

Unless safety is at risk (storm, avalanche, flooding...).
In those rare cases, we may cancel an expedition, but no earlier than one week before departure.
