Snowshoeing
We'll meet at 1pm at the Col de la Schulcht for a welcome drink and introduction to the group and the weekend.
After this introduction to the expedition, we'll set off, snowshoes on, to walk off the beaten track through the snow-covered high-altitude forest to reach the first ridge and its magnificent views of Alsace and the Black Forest.
We'll then head back down to the refuge to settle in and enjoy a good meal together.
After a hearty breakfast, we'll head for the magical backdrop of the snow-covered Vosges mountains.
Weather permitting, we'll head for the Hohneck, renowned as the department's highest peak, but also for its breathtaking 360° views.
We'll then take a break for a picnic (which can be eaten warm if required). In the afternoon, we set off again along the ridge paths overlooking the glacial cirques and cornices, before returning to the refuge to warm up over a good dinner of local specialities.
On this last day, we'll be taking in the Vosges mountains through forest, thatch and viewpoints, immersing ourselves in nature before returning to our original starting point at the Col de la Schlucht.
The tour ends around 4.30pm.
I've been a mountain guide for around fifteen years now, and my passion for the mountains and nature in all its forms has led me to explore the Vosges massif. And of course, the idea is to be able to share with others in and around this magical environment. With a magnificent office like mine (even if the ceiling sometimes leaks 🙂 ), it would be a shame not to make the most of it!
Florian, a mountain guide for over 15 years, is meticulous and caring in his dealings with nature and people. He's happy to share his knowledge and experience of the mountains in general and the Vosges in particular.
His calm demeanour is punctuated by moments of explanation, contemplation and laughter, for a totally safe Vosges experience.
